Company History
1900
Franz Gruber takes over the blacksmith’s shop from the family Kroiß in Aspoltsberg, Gaspoltshofen.
1936
Hans Gruber takes over the forge from his father
1947
Production of rubber trailers, tractor harrows, tractor wings and field rollers. Trade and repair of agricultural machinery.
1957
Because of lack of space, the company relocates to Kirchdorf/Gaspoltshofen: Purchase of the blacksmith’s shop and the farm of the fam. Burgstaller- 4 workers are employed.
1959
Son Manfred Gruber joins the company.
1965
New construction of the production hall with basement. Manufacture of silo doors and complete fermentation feed equipment – 13 employees.
1971
Establishment of a limited liability company. Production of approx. 4000 silo doors per year. Start of in-house production of grain technology: manufacture of maize and grain mills.
1980
Construction of a 2000m² assembly and storage hall. Gruber sets new standards in the development of internal silos and conveying equipment, as well as for grinding and mixing plants. 34 employees.
1982
Gruber develops and produces its own grain silos and quickly becomes a leading manufacturer of grain storage technology.
1990
Addition of another 2000m² warehouse. Family Gruber becomes Austria’s largest supplier of grain technology. Good export development – 45 employees.
1997
Sale of the agricultural machinery trading division – concentration on the core division “grain technology”.
2001
Transfer of the company to Ing. Mag. Johannes Gruber. Family Gruber becomes one of the most important suppliers of grain technology in Germany.
2003
Construction of a 2500m2 production hall for fully automated sheet metal production by means of laser, punching machines and robot-supported logistics warehouse.
2004
Foundation of the “contract manufacturing” division (lasering, edging, welding).
2005
Expansion by a further fully automatically loaded 5 kW laser cutting system.
Export campaign: Family Gruber becomes market leader in Latvia and other CEE countries in the field of grinding and mixing technology. The export share is increased from 25 % to 50 % within one year.
2006
Expansion of the company premises through the acquisition of 5000m²: Gruber becomes one of the most important suppliers of large-scale outdoor silo systems. The number of employees grows to 65.
2007
Construction of a sheet metal production line for round silo systems.
2008
Expansion of the company with a 1500m² assembly hall for mills, mixers and grain cleaners – 70 employees.
2009
Purchase of the business location II “Oberbergham”.
2010
Gruber HYBRID grain cleaner is awarded as an innovation by a committee: Minister of Agriculture presents the “AGRAR FUCHS”.
2011-2013
Development of several grain technology innovations: Grain crushers, aeration silos, hopper silos.
2014
TÜV certification of the company according to EN 1090 steel construction standard.
2015
Commissioning of an additional automated laser cutting system with robot technology.
2016
Construction of a 1600 m² logistics and exhibition hall
2017
Development of several optimised silo series using “finite element structural analysis software” and cooperation with the TU-Graz and structural analysis institutes.
2018
Entry into laser-controlled sheet metal bending technology (automated angle measurement and programme creation)
2019
Investment in a state-of-the-art CNC milling centre. Gruber expands the PV system to 200kVA by means of a roof-integrated PV system and is nominated for the “Energy Globe” innovation award.
2020
Modernisation of the welding department by means of a dividing ring system and an extraction system with hall air conditioning.
2021
Acquisition of a fully automatic Welding robot with 2 welding stations. The vehicle fleet is expanded to 6 crane trucks for assembly work or a total of 12 vehicles.
2022
Expansion of the company’s own PV system to 400 kW – the power supply of the entire company becomes self-sufficient on an annual average.
